Guys

We are travelling to NZ in October with our 15 year old daughter with a view to finding work and settling permanently. :exit

If we want our daughter to continue her education in NZ, will we require a specific 'Student Visa' for her to study?

This is not required if 'Permanent Residence' is granted, but we are not quite at that stage yet (fingers crossed on the job front)! :)

Several schools have been interested in our application, but have not mentioned visa status!

We don't want to arrive in Oct unprepared......:wah

Kind regards

LesleyS

Yes, you need to apply for a student visa for her. Else she will not be able to go to school.
Good luck on the job front!:nice1

Can we apply for a student visa for her once we are in NZ?

The reason i ask this is because if you apply for the visa from the UK you have to submit your offer of a school place in writing and confirm that you have paid the fees.

That's ok, but we have had 3 offers of a place at schools and would like to check them out in person when we arrive in 7 weeks before deciding which would be better for her needs etc.....

Does this make any sense?
HELP........xxxx

It is possible to apply for student permits while in NZ.
Your daughter could be eligible for a visitor visa to enter NZ, though it may help to have some paper work to show your the Immigration officer at the airport your plans to finalise schools in the short term future, just in case they ask.
