Hi,

I wonder if anyone can suggest a solution...other than paying!!!!!!!!!!!!!ha ha

I have booked flights to Auckland with Singapore Airlines, then it occured to me at 4AM this morning, that the luggage allowance we have (30kg) may not be ok on domestic flights. After doing a 'search', everyone advises to book together to avoid this...but I haven't, we just planned to book flight to Hawkes Bay the day we go.

Has anyone else done this? Did you have to pay for excess luggage?

Tut tut....should have read more before booking!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm not sure if Singapore Airlines is a partner with Air NZ, if they are, you should have no trouble getting your backage tagged all the way through (though I believe you collect your bags just before customs in Auckland and then check them in again with Air NZ).

Air NZ and Singapore Air are partners :)

Marcia mentioned in a post a while ago that she was able to through check all her family's bags and benefit from the extra allowance on the smaller Air NZ plane, but they through checked everything from the UK

Don't forget to show your Air NZ electronic ticket when you check in at the Singapore Airlines desk :)

You might want to call AirNZ and ask if it's a problem.

Hi,

Think i'll try and ring air NZ, we planned to get to Auckland, spend 4-5 days there and then just book to fly to Hawkes Bay the day we go...ill look into this further!! So I wouldn't be able to get all my tickets in one....

Thanks for your replies mych appreciated

What you could do is look at getting a freight company to take a couple of your bags and then you could pick them up when you get there. There's probably a couple of firms that do a daily Auck-HB run ... and it's bound to be cheaper than air freight.

....or hire a car and drive down there on a one way hire? May be cheaper than flights and excess luggage.....and you would get to see some nice NZ scenery as you go! Also some great stops on the way.
