I'm packing for the container while still trying to leave out enough clothes and supplies to do me until the container arrives in NZ! That's a tough task! :uhoh

As for clothes, I'm unsure what to pack in my suitcases. I could buy some new things while there, but I have plenty, so I hate to waste the money after already spending a fortune getting this process done. :wah

We'll use Wellington as a home base for the first two-three months (at least), so how do I know what warmth of clothing to bring for mid-Sept to mid December? Online weather averages really don't replace being there, you know?

I'll have a couple of interview outfits, of course, but otherwise, not sure if I should have all long pants and sweaters or a mix of long pants and skirts and sandals?

We plan to walk a lot, so I will definitely have comfy shoes along. :p

Thanks in advance for your experience.

Christine

Lots of layers! Wellington can be very warm one moment, and freezing the next. Even now, supposedly mid-winter, it can be very warm in the middle of the day, but really quite cold once the sun goes down.

It also really depends on the wind, and September to November is often when it's windiest. So you might be very feeling very hot one moment when you're in the sun, but the moment you go into the shade and get caught by a southerly, the temperature will feel like it's just dropped 10 degrees.

So be prepared for it to be variable, and lots of layers would be my advice.
