Have received two job offers. If I submit preferred one with ITA, am I correct in thinking that I am then held into that job for 3 months?
Also when you hand in ITA by hand do they keep passports?
We will be receiving a visa and not PR as being an Electrician we cannot receive PR until the necessary exams are taken in NZ. At least I think this is correct. All help gratefully received

Unsure on the part regarding not receiving PR until exams are sat, so i will talk to my mate who came out here on PR with Ward Chandler and find out what the score is with it. I know he sat the H & S exam with Nick Chandler down in London, as well as having to submit his quals to the NZQA as well as talking with the EWRB from the UK. He registered with them from home too.
He sat the exams in December 04 in London and flew out in May 05

On the question of the passports, it is up to you, you can leave them and then collect when everything is finalised, or you can take a copy of them, and show the originals, they then stamp the copy as original seen. you then take the originals back down later to get the visas put in.
We left all our documents and are now waiting for news on when everything is done.
Had a phone call last week to check that we had requested police checks in previous names as well current names, problem was how to prove it, fortunately the nice man at the police station offered to fax a copy of our forms to NZ house.

Oh my does everyone have to do this, get police checks in maiden name and married name? Doesn't mention it in ITA package anywhere. If so it'll be another doc. we'll be waiting for.....

Hi Carey, I certainly didn't get police checks in maiden name too - it might have asked for previous names (maiden names) on the form I completed.

I was told that they only really need to be notified if the timeline of the job offer changes; My job location was changed from one District Health Board to another and the Medical Council wanted to know for my registration, but INZ was not interested.
As a sidenote, from reading other threads, it could make a difference if the second job offer fails to cross some sort of threshold; for instance, to get points for certain categories, your employer/job description and salary above x (eg 20K) might be needed for those points; if you choose the other offer, you might want to make sure it still qualifies.
Having said that, all they seem to care about is the formal offer; I have never heard of anyone being audited, although I imagine it must happen and I can imagine you would not want to run afoul of a government agencies ire.
Obviously for the best info, I would just call INZ. I found the NZ office to be quite friendly. From the USA its 3cents a minute on skype (which is itself free).
