Hi

I would appreciate if anyone can comment on the success of having your shipping company arrange the tax rebate for leaving the UK mid way through the financial year.

We leave for NZ in 3 weeks and our shipping company have estimated that I am due a refund of £1700 and my husband around £2000. Don't want to get my hopes up if this is just a sales pitch!

Many thanks

Have just filled in the forms myself, The form you require is a P85, leaving the uk, and it is very easy to fill in. You do need parts 2 and 3 from your P45, (I am still waiting for mine). How much you will get back - I don't know!!

hi,
I assume that they are doing this on a commision basis. You dont need to claim a tax refund through them! Contact your local tax office who will be able to help you. Its only a simple form to fill out.

the form you need is below

you can also see roughly how much you may be due by using the below link. you do not have to use their service as its simple to do it on your own.

Agree with that....don't pay more than you need to for things that are simple to do yourself. If you ring your tax office, they should be able to give you an idea of how much you will get back...processing the paperwork can take a few weeks though, so don't expect a quick refund.
