Hello All,
I am originally from Essex (I noticed another Southendite on the forum - hello) and have been living in Perth for the last 13 years. My husband is from Cornwall but has been in Perth for about 15 years. We met when I came over on a teacher exchange. We have 2 daughters who are 5 and 8.
We have now set our sights over the Tasman and hope to leave here at the end of the year. Coming from Oz we don't have quite so many hoops to jump through but still need info about jobs, housing etc and we have found this site really interesting. The latest string about teaching drew me in, as I am a teacher. My husband is in IT.
We are hoping to head for the Nelson or Christchurch region. We will be coming over on an "info finding" holiday in about 6 and a half weeks and then put the house up for sale on our return. We hope that we can organise everything before the new school year starts. All advice gratefully received!
If anyone changes their mind and wants info about Oz I'll be happy to oblige.

Hi Gina and welcome to the forum.
As you can see we are from Essex and we reguarly go to Southend particulary for the Cliffs Pavillion. However if you have been away for 13 years you will notice a difference now. Unfortunately it is for the worse.
I am sure you are in the better place.
We will have to get some info from you when we visit Australia.

Kindest regards

Dave and Caroline

Hi Gina, Welcome to the forums. Nelson is a lovely place, we visited on our recci in January. My husband is from Devon but lived in Cornwall most of his life, we're actually off to St. Ives to visit relatives in a week or so.

Good luck with the move.

Hi Gina
Jan comes from Southend and i am from Hadleigh, good to hear from someone from the old area, Jan went back for a few weeks recently (family thing ) and could'nt wait to get out of the place again, hope your trip all goes to plan and you like what you find, we thought Christchurch was a bit too English, Nelson is realy great, not sure what the work situation is like in the south island. Good luck:)
Regards
Brian and Jan
