Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. Its very useful to people who want to live, work and vist NewZealand. Thanks to the members and the site administrators to provide enough info.

Here comes my problem. I want to migrate to NewZealand under skilled migration (IT- Telecom software programmer and Test analyst) .I have managed to get 115 in the NZIM website. I got 115 points without job offer. I also applied to job recurtiment agencies in NewZealand 3 agencied came up with inital screening for job, some agencies suggested to travel to NZ and find a job.

Now My questions are :
1.As I have 115 points can I go a head and apply EOI.
2. If I Applied EOI and If it take enough time to select from the pool, in mean time can I go for vistor visa or work holiday visa to travel to NZ and find a job? and it won't effect the EOI process?
3.Is it really worth to travel to NZ in vist visa to find a job?

Please guide me. Thanks in advance
Ragu

Hi Ragu and welcome to the forum !

If you have 115 points it is technically possible to submit an EOI (minimum requirement is 100), however if you were to have a job offer (which would probably bring you up to or over the 140 points mark), you have a far better chance of going through the application procedure much faster.

As you can see on the following page, which shows the most recent EOI selections: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/community/general/generalinformation/news/eoiselection.htm

EOI's with 140 points (with or without a job offer) are automatically selected. If an applicant has between 100 and 140 points, it depends on whether they have points in certain specified areas how quickly they are selected. In other words, if you don't have those points, it can be a long wait !

May I ask, why would you would wish to get your EOI selected before you come to NZ on a (working) holiday visa since, as mentioned, you have a better chance of getting selected quickly if you do have the job offer. As far as I know, there's nothing to stop you from coming here on a (working) holiday visa, finding a job and then submitting an EOI with the higher points in order to be selected more quickly. Many have followed this same route successfully.

I'm afraid I'm not sure if coming here on a (working) holiday visa whilst already having your EOI selected will influence the EOI process, hopefully someone else on here will be able to tell you more about that.

As you have already experienced with the recruitment agencies, it seems that a job offer is easier to find when one is actually present in NZ, I guess to a potential employer it says something about one's commitment to the emigration process ? Therefore I do believe it would be worthwhile to come to NZ, and even better if you're able to line up some definite interviews beforehand so that you can make the best use of the time you have when you're here.

Hope this helps a bit and the best of luck with it !
