Today whilst I went into physiotherapy place, my 18months old dd tripped over the step and hit her upper lip, I wasn't aware she had hit her lip till I pick her up to comfort screaming child and met with blood pouring out of her mouth :uhoh
With physio nurse and myself, we managed to stop it bleeding after 15mins, to find she had cut her lip badly. On advice of the nurse, I took her to dr straight away. Once we arrived dr surgery, we were asked to fill in ACC form as it was accident occur at public place etc..
I am confused on what is ACC is all about as did thought it mean free treatments? Cos I end up had to pay $10 for dr fee...and why do we have fill the form for?
Thanks for helping me and maybe others to understood more about ACC.

I've no idea Sophia, but was sorry to hear about your little one. Hope she's okay now.

Oh yes she is fine now as she is usually a tough girl! She was exhausted tonight that she went to bed early:nice1

ACC is this (http://www.acc.co.nz).

Ouch - I can sympathize! On his first birthday my younger son managed to slip off a bench and whack his chin, neatly putting his shiny new teeth through his tongue. Blood everywhere; total panic; doctors visit. He had a cool forked tongue for a while, but at that age they heal fast; 8 months on it's just a dimple. I doubt it'll slow your daughter down much - my lad still managed to eat his birthday cake! :roll

If it's an acc claim you get a reduction in fees. I recently cut my hand and the doctors fees' were 'only' 45 dollars as opposed to 70. The form goes off to ACC and they will send you a letter in a few days telling you they have accepted your claim. It also helps with payments if your are off work, etc

Shouldn't an 18 month old get treatment without charge?

It's dependent on the doctor's surgery I believe. I don't think we pay for our 1 yr old but do have to pay prescription charges for her

When Jason was little, he had just got his 4 front teeth, he fell off a little tykes slide on his face, cut all his lips and snapped off his front teeth.

He looked like this till the adult teeth came through -http://www.thesmilies.com/smilie-generator/image/rolleyes%5E_%5Earial%5E_%5E0%5E_%5E0%5E_%5Ehe+was+ soo+cute%21%5E_%5E.gif (http://www.thesmilies.com)
