Well, another one. :raebanana:raebanana
I was interviewed for this position not long after arriving here.... turns out the guy who got it wasn't up to the job, so they came to me.
Been bumming round in some dead end jobs so to get one almost exactly the same as the one I did for Vodafone in UK is quite good. (just wish it was the same salary :laugh )
But, I will be working from home, have a 4WD, get to play with ropes and climb things, play with technical equipment that I am familiar with, Skicats when I have to go to the ski fields and other things such as eating my lunch on mountain tops looking at the views..... now I getting dewy eyed LOL
Sure there will be many many headaches too, but you can't have everything.
So, I off to Auckland on Monday for 3 days then have to go for another few weeks for more training. Maybe get the chance to catch up with some of our pals up there.

Thanks guys - starting to feel a bit better now, a bit of trepidation before when you start any new venture, but now I have worked some things out, seems a bit less daunting. Only time will tell if it is a good thing or not, but until that time comes, I'm going to give it a bloomin' good go.
Greg, may take you up on that one, Mascrat Manor to Queen St. Auckland - sounds a bit surreal dunnit :laugh

Hey Steve, so very pleased for you. Enjoy the time in Auckland. It's always nerve wracking starting something in a new country, give it time and it will feel like you've always been doing it. I worried about how different it would be to teach over here, 6 months into the job and I'm feeling totally at home. :yes

Steve,
You obviously need a 'boy' to do all your fetching and carrying. Especially to get that lunchbox to the top of the mountains.
I am available to start next week.
Seriously, all the best mate, sounds like a great job:raebanana :cheers

Thanks everyone, just back from a surprise 40th party and the sheer amount of good wishes from people I don't even know is heartwarming, it really is nice when people look out for you, and nice to know that at last we can start to really settle. It has been difficult because the large majority of work in this field is in Auck/Welly, but maybe it was meant to be that I got this job.
Will give me a start on the ladder, a chance to do something with the spring/summer coming to see all those places round here. And transmitter sites being where they are, i.e. on top of hills, hoping to take the camera and get some good shots.
Thanks again all.
Steve
p.s. Jan has me out of the way now, big shopping trip and hairdressers appointments on the cards I reckon :laugh
