A follow-up on the duvet and pillow query...

What about wool - blankets, comforters, skins, yarns, roving, rugs, etc? On the MAF site, it looks like they may need to "treat" it but what do they treat it with?

Since much of what we have is bedding and items we come in close contact with I'm concerned about any sprays or chemicals they might use...

If in doubt about a particular item - why not email MAF direct? Maybe attach a photo if a description is too difficult.

We found them really helpful when we were trying to sort out tools and workshop equipment for my OH before coming.

Oh and if you get favourable replies - make sure you keep hard copies of your replies as evidence should there be any problems at this end! :)

I brought a bunch of yarn in a box labeled "Art Supplies," and no one every looked at it. I brought wool sweaters in with my clothes. I asked the shipping company at the time about wool, and they seemed to think it was untreated wool, like newly sheared lamb's wool, that was an issue, and not the sort of finished product I'd have in my sweaters, blankets or in skeins of yarn. Just our experience - nothing official - but we had no trouble.

Give rugs a good hoover or get them dry cleaned (some can be machine washed)....if they have animal hairs on them (even from pet dog or cat) they may take them away for cleaning.
