Hi, Andy and I, our baby and our two beagles are hoping to move to NZ in next year, few things to tie up first and then apply in next couple of months. Andy is a Chippie and I'm a Probation Officer. Thinking of moving to Hawkes Bay area, although Andy is going to go out and do a recky nearer the time. The way things are going in this country moving can't come soon enough, its a shame though, what is happening to society. My only query, will the grass be greener on the other side?!:confused:

Green Grass...NZ will be what you make of it. Do your research well and thorough, and you won't have any nasty surprises (well hopefully not). No where in the world is perfect, you will soon find out what things you may have to compromise on, and which negative things are less important to you and you can live with. It is a shame how some areas of society are going, but you have to put your family first and do what is right for you. Good luck!!

Welcome, we're relatively new here too, it's a fantastic forum, full of knowledge!

My OH, also an Andy, is looking for jobs in NZ prison service and I know they are actively seeking Probation Officers at present. They are running an open application up until Dec '07. Don't know whether you've checked out the Department of Corrections website, it's really informative.

My Beagles are going to love it...just cant live to near any sheep! Thats why we thought Hawkes Bay region might be good, they can't chase grapes! If however I'm wrong in my assumption and there are lots of sheep in the area could you put me straight!

Is Hawkes Bay any good for carpenters?
