Will this be an issue with customs if I have various bottles of vitamins (opened, in original containers) in my checked bags? I hate to throw them away and buy new ones in NZ as they are pretty expensive here (probably are in NZ, too)!

I'd rather bring them in my checked luggage as the container might get too hot for them, rendering them useless. :uhoh

Also, am I correct that I need a doctor's note for all meds in my luggage? Or is the original RX bottle with dr. name and pharmacy info enough?

Thanks....

I think my brain is on overload with all the research I've done over the last year! I can't remember half of what I KNOW I already looked up, and the container will be here SOON!! I'm bouncing back and forth from task to task like a mad woman :exit

Definitely bring original scripts for all your meds, and carry them with you (not in luggage).

Vitamins won't be a problem - there are no laws in NZ regarding content and quality of supplements. (Same rubbish as in the USA.) Might be good to have a little piece of paper on your person w/ inventory for when the inspectors pull your bag and ask about 'those pills'.

Agreeing with BarryP on the vitamins -- I brought opened bottles into NZ with no trouble. Was glad I brought plenty of vegetarian multivitamins as these are hard to find (at least for me they were).

To be perfectly honest Christine, I had about 6 months supply of prescription pills packed in my suitcase and once I had packed them I promptly forgot all about them !!

I didn't declare them, neither did I have a doctors note for them - not for any reason other than I never gave it a thought.

Maybe I was just lucky - I don't know, but I was never questioned about the contents of my case.

I think that vitamins would be fine, but if I had to do it all again I think I would get a doctors note for my meds..........

That's something I didn't mention, but it is also a big factor for me: I have a hard time finding vegetarian vitamins as it is, so I'm loathe to leave my inventory behind!

Thanks, everyone!:nice1

Just wondering about bringing in shampoos, body lotions, etc in our suitcases. Are these items allowed in our packed luggage (not carry on luggage)?

thx.

Countdown has quite a few different vegetarian multivitamins :) ....but they are not well organised on the shelves....you need some patience to trawl through them all. They don't seem to separate 'vitamins' from 'health supplements' the way they do it UK, so I find it hard to find what i'm after:(
