:roll Hi All

We are arranging to come over to NZ in Feb 08, (hoorah!!! :clap ) with the sole purpose of getting some job interviews for Barry (IT Manager), so that fingers crossed, we can apply for a work visa. If we understand correctly, once we get a job offer, we can apply for a work visa?

Can anyone give any advice please on the best way to go about getting interviews arranged and anything else that would help us.

Hi, Id either go through an agent who will find jobs and set up interviews for you when you arrive, or I would find prospective employers, email CV and ask if you can 'pop in for a chat'...never know what this can lead to...or apply for jobs online, before you go...that interview the time you are there. I would recommend using agent...and getting his name known out there, and visiting places on arrival.

PS- Im not in IT specifically, so people may have more appropriate answers, this is what I would do in general to find employment.

They generally are not interested in people unless they have PR in-hand, but definitely worth chatting with him.

London Expo in October is very good time to look for IT job. There are several very large companies recruiting there. Make sure you go with plenty of time to talk to people, plus copies of CV and maybe copy on a pen drive. OH got telephone interview and job within a week. We had submitted EOI at that point, which was enough to convince them we were serious about moving.
