Hi all

I am not sure if this has already been covered - I have done several searches but have not found what I am looking for.

We are due to fly out to NZ very soon and we now need to get our travel insurance sorted.

I have looked at go-walkabout.com as well as post-office.co.uk (based on suggestions from previous posts and threads) and we would be covered for the first 17 days, however, we will be carrying a laptop as well as other electrical equipment (all for hubby's work). Go-walkabout's maximum sole item cover is £300 only and the Post Office's is £1000. Our laptop alone is worth more than that!

I have contacted go-walkabout to ask if we are able to increase the sole item allowance and am waiting on them to contact me back. If they are able to increase the allowance that will cover us for the first 17 days but as we are not moving into a rental for the first 3 weeks, we will not have contents insurance until then, so we will be in limbo for 3rd and 4th week after we have arrived.

Has anyone else been in the same/similar situation as us? How did you manage?

We appreciate any advise, thanks!

We got contents insurance through our NZ bank to cover us while still in hotel. Go walkabout did cover our laptop and camera, PSP's etc while travelling aswell....has to be down as named item though, plus higher premium.

Thanks for the reply.

Go Walkabout have insured our laptop for an additional premium and they have also extended the original 17 days of cover for us until we get into a rental.

I can highly recommend them as I arranged the cover at 4.30pm Tuesday and we received the documents through the post on Wed!

Panic over as when we fly out on 1st Sept we are now covered.:)

We also found them very quick and straightforward to deal with.:nice1
