Article from today's BBC:

Quote:
More people left the UK last year than in any year since current records began in 1991, statistics show.

196,000 British citizens left the UK to start a new life in another country - 30,000 to New Zealand. :exit

The UK's loss is definitely New Zealand's gain IMHO :yes

Well no surprises there!

But why can't the government see that what they have allow happen to the country is driving its citizens away??!!

We're well out of it - just sad that the rest of my family is still there! :wah

I agree Marcia. When people ask us why we are going? I always reply "why not or look at this country" and then they agree and I feel dreadful because they have no choice but to stay. I have 2 children and 10 Neices and Nephews who have no choice but to grow up in the UK, unless they can get out when they are older. Feel dreadful leaving behind all the family.

Where ever you go... there You are. You can't escape yourself... if you aren't happy somewhere it can't be guaranteed somewhere else.

We were happy with ourselves and our life in general in the uk - just not the other 60+ million bodies, :o and the many more the government are allowing in - so we decided to become immigrants in our right - in NZ!! (and bug the heck out of the Kiwis with all the immigrants coming into the country!! :D )

You are right - if you have problems, with marriage yourself etc, you take them where you go, but sometimes the problems aren't of your own making, so for us it was getting away from the problems others were causing!

That is so true Marcia - we also have a lovely life here together as a family. The problems in the UK are not of our making, we'd be kidding ourselves if we thought the situation was going to get better.....it aint!!!

And life's too short to hang around waiting for changes to happen... we have to change them ourselves.
