Hi All,
Having very nearly been depressed by the painfully slow EOI to ITA progress I've booked a trip to Christchurch for the first week in March with the intention of seeing as many emloyers / agencies as I can.
Simple question is any pointers on where to stay?
Regards

Hi, Andy,
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Christchurch (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hd/chcks?irs=null). Good access from the airport, nice and central to everything. The rooms are nothing special, but they're clean and good enough to catch up on a night's sleep.
Hope that helps!

staying at any of the BBH backpackers is good as you get to meet other people. Some of them have single rooms and if not book yourself a double (ensuite if you are a solitary being). Have a look at the website for an idea on prices etc. www.bbh.co.nz I hate the isolation that you get in hotels, motels. but if that doesn't bother you there is one called Riccarton Village Inn 0800 323 747 www.christchurch-hotel.com thats just across Hagley Park from the city centre (about 10 minute walk). That doesnt seem to expensive.

Dan..nothing speacial... that is our only 'nearly 5 star hotel' in chch!!
(I think it is 4.5 as it doesnt have a pool)
pretty expensive though, very popular with the Asian tourists as the buses drop them there.
try www.wotif.com
to get an idea of prices,

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Oxford Terrace, walking distance from the town centre and easy to get to by road. Pretty basic but has an OK restaurant and a small pool for the kids (and a few excercise machines for the energetic!). Prices were very reasonable. Not quite up to the standard of the US Holiday Inn's I've stayed at but as a base it was ideal.

My hubby did a similar trip in October and stayed at the Stonehurst Accommodation, just 2 blocks from the city centre (short walk). They have a good website: www.stonehurst.com with various types of accommodation, we thought reasonably priced compaired with some of the city centre hotels. He had his own little kitchen as well, which obviously saves on some of the costs, being able to make your own breakfast / lunch etc.
Could tell you a lot more, but it's all on their website. We booked by phone, and then followed up with an e-mail to confirm. Good luck with your trip!
