Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has used or could recommend (or NOT recommend!)one of the companies that ship smaller amounts of personal goods from the UK to NZ. I'm planning to move out in November and as I'm going to rent my place in the UK with all the furniture left in it, I don't really have a lot of stuff to bring with me - just a couple of boxes probably for clothes, CDs etc.

www.sevenseasworldwide.com has been mentioned in other threads, and I've looked at excess-baggage.com. Pricewise they seem pretty similar but if anyone has used these or anybody else I would be grateful for your experiences of them.

Thanks!

We're going with Cargobookers for a 2cubic meter load to Chch.

It's been very easy to arrange so far - the boxes (the first 8 are free) are being delivered tomorrow and we just ring the day before we want the firm to collect them and then they are put on the next weekly ship out...

Wiki.....

What sort of load is that (in terms of the goods going in the boxes) Obviously not furniture but more personal items then?

kind regards

It's mostly books - I'd say 65% books, plus dvds, clothes, a few framed pictures and ornaments, bedding and a strange, but important selection of kitchen stuff (mostly knives and muffin pans because I'm odd like that)

The only big things we're taking are the desktop and flat screen and one of the dvd players.

Wiki thank you

That is exactly the amount we are taking....apart from the muffin tins :laugh Is it more cost effective than say using an International shipper like John Masons would you say?

kind regards

we thought seven seas were great, reasonably priced, well organised, courier arrived on time in UK, allowed us to change delivery address in NZ no probs, unfortunately when I got round to opening the boxes recently, our stuff was all smashed!
if you've got nothing fragile, I'd recommend them highly

I got about eight quotes from freight consolidators and traditional movers and Cargo bookers were very reasonable for our load. I'm going to risk taking a couple of breakable things like vases and glasses, but if they break I'd be ok with it - the only tragedy for me would be everything sliding into the sea...

Cargobookers also gave us two quotes for 2 cu m and 2.5 cu m because we don't really know how much we have in total... and if we want to add more we can too.
