But I didn't cry at all, which surprised me as I have been close to tears for the last few weeks. I think I am just relieved to have some time off before I get married.
My researchers cried, though. Quite a lot.
I am sad they're sad I'm going, but I'm looking forward to the break...
Going back in 4 weeks' time as a freelancer, and have been promised lots of freelance work once I'm in NZ - hurrah!

Sometimes actually 'doing' something is alot easier than 'waiting' to do something....

I walked into my leaving do with a straight face and firm backbone. Then I saw everyone's faces and started to bawl. Caught everyone by surprise, myself included!

Sounds good. What's your story, Jojo? I haven't been on here much lately and I can't remember what your plans are. You say you're going back to freelance in 4 weeks, so I guess you're not planning to be in NZ for a few months yet? Where are you heading to? Sorry, just being really nosey really...

That's good to hear, well done :)
I've been walking around with this lump in my throat for a while, have my last working day today. I don't think I'll cry in front of others, but I tend to be a bit socially awkward in those goodbye situations, never knowing exactly what to say or respond.
We tried to recruit my replacement but weren't successful, so of course I feel a bit bad about that. But in a way, going through all the CVs and the interviews has been quite good for gearing me up for the job hunt starting December...

It's probably a bit too far away to get to the really weepy bit yet, and you've got your wedding to look forward to and everything. Good about the freelance work once your here, English wages will convert really well!

I struggled to keep it together at the airport when I said goodbye to my Mum and Dad, but that has been the only time so far.

We fly to NZ in the middle of October, and are settling down in Whitianga on the Coromandel peninsula. But first I am getting married - two weeks to go!
