I am the only one seeking residence, no one else is coming with me. I have two parents and one brother.
I have no partner and no children.
On the EOI:
"T1. Do you have other family members?"
Yes...but I get confused about definitions.
Do they want to know about people who are not moving to NZ?
Give details of ALL your family members, including those adopted legally or by custom. It is not necessary to list deceased family members. As defined in the guide, family includes biological and adoptive parents, and full, half, step and adopted brothers and sisters.
The bold part is important, because if you click on the link to "family", you get this defintion:
We define a family as you, your partner, and your and/or partner's dependent children.
Why are the two definitions completely different? According to the second definition, I have NO family (apart from me). But if I go by the first definition, then I have two parents and one brother as part of my family!
This should be extremely simple. But it's not. I don't understand how they've given two contradictory definitions and they've confused me mightily.
So I don't even know how to answer the "do you have other family members?" question!
then in the place where you're meant to name your family, the "relationship to you" box has options like "aunty", "uncle" etc etc, which according to both definitions are not even considered "family".
What is going on and why am I so baffled?
Thanks
