Finally sat here applying for my provisional license, and at the same time enrolling for the regulations exams etc at my local college (Weltec), Getting a little confused with what i need to study for etc?

I believe assuming my experience and qualifications check out all ok (should be all ok) that i need to sit the Regulations, and also the stage 3 practical assesment, correct me if i am wrong there?

But, contacting the EWRB they just give me details of the local college, and when i speak to local college, they say i can enroll on a 2 week course !:uhoh One week being the course for the regulations with the exam on the friday, and the second week being a week of all three stage of practical from stage 1 to 3 with internal assesment? Now what i need to try and get my head around is this:

-Do i actually need to take a weeks Regs course and tuition? Or can i just study and take the exam only? And can i just enroll anywhere for only the exam?
-How do i "just" take the stage 3 practical when all courses i see are a week long and cover all 3 stages of assesment?
-As the 2 weeks of courses plus fees come to a $1450 figure  and with unpaid time off work i would rather not waste 2 weeks doing something i already know just so i can sit and pass an exam etc?

I have also emailed and asked Paul Mcgrail and EWRB, but not yet got any replies, but i was more looking for other emmigrating sparkies experiencees and how you did it? If its just a couple of exams/assesments etc i would rather sit those for a day or two, than lose loads money on a 2 week course covering ground i known for 17+ years in the trade.

Thanks for help

Hi Lee,

Iam am currently in the same boat as yourself right now, I have been told by the EWRB that i need to sit the regs and the stage three pratical.
What may answer your question is that they say i must sit the exam and coursework for each. I was having the same idea as you but it would seem they prefer to have you spend all your money on the course!!

I have not found the EWRB to be the quickest or most imformative bunch in the world but maybe thats just my experience!!!

Good luck and let me know how you get on!!
