Hi am hoping that someone out there might have had to deal with the IRD over this one. My husband is Irish and we have just shifted back to NZ with our 2 girls. I am a kiwi born and raised and the girls have dual citizenship. But the problem that arises is that he doesnt have residency yet and works at sea for 3 months then comes back for 2 months R&R. When we were in Ireland he was not required to pay tax because he was out of the country more than 183 days of the year - basically a seafarers taxation deal. But due to the ´enduring relationship´ that he has ie us he does pay tax in NZ. Any one been in this situation and find any wats around it. Definately doesnt make his long trips away worth it once the tax man takes his cut. Would appreciate any info someone might have. Cheers
