Does anyone know if the medication for treating hypothyroidism is available from general practitioners in NZ or is this a condition that requires a "specialist" and getting on waiting lists for treatment and things like that? Here is the U.S. it is quite routine and general practitioners can monitor a patient's thyroid levels. Thanks for any guidance!

Would like to know the answer also. I do however understand that the prescriptions are payable. In the UK thyroxine is free and so are all other medicines if you have this condition.
