Hi folk

My two boys start a new term in the UK next month and could do with new shoes. We are due to arrive in NZ Nov/Dec. Is it worth hanging on or should I buy? What type of shoes (if any) do children wear in NZ. Also what is a typical school uniform like? Thanks for any help :nice1

You could check out the school websites.

They were same sort of shoes for school in NZ as they did in UK and as per the uniform trainers are not accepted.

Guess it could vary by school though?

Black lace up clumpies here! They have a lovely uniform. Grey shorts, grey polo shirts and blue jumpers. They wear this all year round. It's funny to see grown men in the long shorts (by the time they hit yr 13 thats what they look like!) They also have "number ones" and they have to wear these if they for example go away to play football. Long black trousers, white shirt and tie, optional blue blazer... very smart.

If I was you, I should better check out with school they are going to find out about uniform. Recalled my sister who is dean at one of auckland's high schools said that her school is very strict on shoes as well as uniform...had to wear properly black shoes all year around even summer times!! :o , no trainer allowed unless it is for sport!! Poor kids!

Yep, check with the school. Ours have a very limited selection of styles from a specific shop, others are less strict, but will be worth knowing! Also, They wear sandals for the summer terms (4 and 1) like no UK kids wear....;)
