I know! I brought my dad his present of chocolate thorton hamper, and it is on way to him this weekend ;)
What we do is give homemade card only for UK's father's/mother's day, then present for NZ's father's/mother's day, so they look forward getting something from grandchildren and us twice ;) This time we brought my dad a big present because he had helped us so much in last a year with looking after and dealing with sale of our UK house that finally sold in April, 4months after we left for NZ.
For clock change, anyone got idea when it is? just got your post, ahhh, thanks anita!

Yep, see here http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Daylight-Saving-Index
But it means an hour less in bed, when we're getting up early to go to the rally... and now even earlier :(

Daylight Saving time is changing this year and possibly next year as well. The clocks will move foward 2 weeks earlier this year (on 30 September) and move back one week later in the Autumn. In 2009, it is expected they will extend DST by a further week by delaying the change in the Autumn by one more week.

I presume the change is already figured into our flight times and stuff, it will just be an extra hour of jet lag... lucky we are only coming from Oz. What is a bit strange too is that when we flew into the UK earlier this year it was the day that British Summer Time started... what a coincidence.

I think you've got that the wrong way round. It starts one week early and ends two weeks later. Either way, we've got another month till we need to worry about losing an hour!
