Could anyone just confirm timings for me

You put in your EOI and hopefully are selected in the fortnightly draw, if successful you get an ITA and have 4 months to complete this . If successful with this you have 12 months to move.

Does your 4 months start from the draw date, or how long does it take to get the ITA through.

Thanks all.

Hopefully at some point I will be able to answer other peoples questions.

Bye

Hi there,

The 4 months is from the date on the letter/ITA. We were selected from the pool on Sep 1st, but didn't get our ITA till 24th Dec.

If your looking at finding some extra time (we're not moving till 06, prob summer) I think that after they have approved your PR you have another 4 months to get the stamp in your passport (either by post or person at NZ house) and then the 12 months that you have to enter NZ start from end your passport is stamped.

I think that's right, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm talking out my bottom!

Milliemoo's timings are correct, although I'm not sure about the leeway on the passport stamp one. Some people have been successful in getting extensions on the 4 months for the ITA to be application time, simply by talking to their case officers I believe. Note that the time to actually get an invitation after selection seems to vary greatly, ours took over 3 months. With a job offer this obviously comes down.

Cheers,

Mark. :P

Thanks that is useful.

Just thinking of timings to go over for interviews, how to fit in holidays with family etc, as well as the trip to NZ, and when we finally move, and all this without taking Rhiannon out of school for too long.

Husband wants tomove by May, I think Aug more appropriate.

Plus when is the coldest time of the year in Christchurch?

Thanks all

Hi Jo,

I think May is very quick to move, unless your husband already has a job. We started the process in August, I'm "hoping" :hopeso to get a decision Feb/March so we "could" move in April/May at best. It will also depend on the need to wait for house to sell (for us this is a definite yes), I wouldn't put too much pressure on yourselves in that department.

With regards to the weather just turn it around, mid summer here is mid winter there. We will probably be looking to move around Sept/Oct time, which will be spring in NZ. You never know though, if the house sells quickly (yeh right) we might go earlier. We won't put the house on the market before we get PR though.

Coldest time in New Zealand appears to be Xmas LOL :laugh

I assume during Winter months is coldest - when we got here in Sept it was still bitterly cold. Warmed up since but it's been a disastrous, no.. non-existant, summer.
