I'm wondering wether i have to get my qualifications/skills assessed to work as a cnc/center lathe turner in nz.
I served an apprenticeship as a turner and have aprox 25 years experiance.
I have City&Guilds mech eng craft studies (studied on day release as part of my apprenticeship).
I've also got C&G computer aided engineering (cnc programming) and have around 12 years exp on cnc lathes.
I've never had to prove these qualifications here in the uk, apart from listing them on application forms for jobs.
i've lookied around on the net but it seems to be diploma /degree level qualifications that need veryifying and not trade/vocational qualifications.
any help appreciated

Hi Col

You shouldn't need to get your quals assessed. I think they come out as a level 4 over here, if memory serves me right. What you will need to do is be able to produce them for verification.
I came over pretty much on the same quals as you have stated, ie. full mech' craft apprenticeship and finished off my last year toolmaking, all City and Guilds. All London immigration wanted, was to sight them when I put the final PR application through. Also, your trade is, or was when I applied, on the absolute skills shortage list which helps the process along.

Rob didn't need to get his C&G assessed either - we just faxed them to our Case officer.
and his were assesed at a L5 as he had extra C&G in Engineering etc

I paid for mine to be assessed for my Admin ones - my RSA L 2 was deemed L3 & L3 a L4 in NZQA standards
