Hi,
Has anyone gone down the working holiday route before? I think we'll need to go down this route in order to get an interview whilst over there - once we get a job over there is it pretty straight forward to get PR? Also would we be able to ship our stuff over and take our cats with the working holiday visa? We have family over there so could maybe get it all sent to their house?
Any info would be great!!!
Thanks
Tony

we have a backpackers in Christchurch and have met quite a few people who have taken this route, providing that you are under 30 when you apply its as good an option as any.

Hi Tony
Both my sons went originally on working holiday and got job offers followed by PR - so I think it is a fairly common route to go.

PS - and they also sent boxes of belongings. They used 7 Seas and had the boxes stored in the UK until they had an address, but they certainly didn't have PR before they sent for them.

My husband and I obtained working holiday visas, with the intent to find jobs once we arrive, and then extend our stay if everything works out. We leave in 12 days so we have no feedback yet, but I'll most likely be posting on how things work out. One extra cost we've found to the W/H is that we are required to sign up for health insurance while we're there.
We'll be packing very little, in order to meet the check-in baggage requirements, but I think it will do for a start. Then we'll ship additional things over when we decide to settle. I've seen several posts with feedback on shipping pets - just do a search on it and you should come up with quite a bit.
Good luck! :)
