Hi there, I just got this message from the guy at the L.A. office of NZIS, in response to my "where's my packet?!?" plea....thought you might be interested....good news on the way!
"There have been hundreds of American EOIs approved since February 2004.
Not all of the September EOIs have been processed but I know some have.
I haven't been able to raise the person I need to in London. NZers traditionally take long holidays over Christmas because it coincides with our Summer.
I did speak to someone who did not have access to your case specifically, but she assured me that all Sept Oct and Nov EOIs will be assessed by the end of the month."
Yay!!! :cool

Well I got my ITA which is great news (selected Sept 15th) but it seems that all the documents etc go to London and not Washington! I'm not sure why this is and to make it more complicated they want me to pay the fees in pounds, which means that the ITA application alone will cost nearly $1200 at today's terrible exchange rates!!

Feathers,
Can I ask if you had a job offer? How many points you claimed? Our EOI was selected 1 Sept/100 pts and is now sitting in limbo in London. When I last week, the woman told me more or less that it wouldn't be rushed and to just wait. Just trying to see where others are. Thanks!

Catjilin - not trying to get you fretting, but did the NZIS woman go online and verify that your EOI is fully engaged in their system? What I mean is that once or twice on the forum there have been cases of situations such as forum members opening their EOI to edit and not fully closing it afterwards... with the result that NZIS assumes it is open for editing and hence out of consideration for the time being.

I'm sure you've checked this. If not, may be worth a quick call back.

Cheers,
Matt.

No, she didn't. She was actually very short on the phone and didn't want my EOI number or anything. Guess I'll have to call back again tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

Cat,

Okay. It's a very slim chance there's anything wrong, but as far as I know there is a way to blunder into that 'Edit EOI' screen even after EOI has been selected. So my thinking is that by accident or by design you, or even an official(??), may have gone in and not closed out.

I got into this screen once and did absolutely nothing edit-wise... but I still phoned the NZIS to make sure I hadn't opened my file somehow. I hadn't: the nice guy said everything looked in order.

Matt.

Hi Cat

No I don't have a job offer and am only claiming 100 points! I'm not sure there is any reasoning behind how the NZIS order their workflow, it could just be that I was lucky and my EOI ended up on the desk of a fast worker!

Good luck
