I'm an avid scrapbooker and artist (not professional) and it is the one thing i will miss when I get to NZ- what is the availability of scrapbooking and art /crafts supplies - other than sewing and knitting - in New zealand?
Will I be able to use mail order or websites from Aus?

I think I recall StevieD's wife being a mad-keen scrapbooker too. I think on another thread you mentioned Dunedin? There used to be a great cross-stitch, quilting crafts shop that had paper and decals and beads etc, so I think you should be ok.

Mail order from Aus is always possible, as long as you don't mind adding the postage costs - in fact, it may just end up cheaper for light things as there's a bigger buying power in Oz.

I'm a scrapbooker too & you'll not be disappointed with the choice of stash here. I live in Hamilton & there are 2 shops in town plus spotlight which is good for buttons & ribbon. The warehouse is good for glue & bits & bobs. I bought a lovely pack of cardstock exactly the same as bazzill 18 sheets for $7.00.
There are alot of online shops & you can get some good deals on trade me. I've ordered some stuff from OZ and if you spend $100.00 you get free shipping.
These site are quiet good

The Warehouse has a couple of isles filled high with loads of fab arty materials that are dirt cheap. Also found loads of cheap wool and stuff too.

Problem with starting specialist shop is many areas of NZ will not have big enough sphere of influence to make it economically viable.

why don't you join a Yahoo scrapbooking group in NZ/ I joined a NZ stamping group and they accepted me when they knew that we were going to emigrate. I have enjoyed it and get to know lots of things and they usually have some vendors on the site too. I find these groups really helpful and there are lots of scrapbooking stuff over there from what I can gather anyway. You will be fine Jan
