OH been havnig some stomach pains for a while; yesterday our Dr suggests it could be irritable bowel syndrome. Anyone know if this would be a significant problem, ie. could it mean not passing the medical? Please say no !

can't see that as a problem at all with the medical, but our daughter cured her IBS by avoiding wheat and wheat products, might be worth a try.

I didn't mention it during my medical, no need, it isn't something that will take you to the doctors' alot.

I avoid cheese and whenever possible stress. I am going to have a test for Helicobacter pylori soon, this might be a viable cause of my problem. Could be worth spending a few quid on a blood test.

I've found that doctors can say you have IBS when you have a disagreeable digestive system and they don't have anything specific to tell you :uhoh . Certainly try figuring out what foods, if any, upset you or if you are more upset by stress factors or something else.
I managed my diagnosis of IBS with a diet change (more protein to handle the stomach acid) and haven't had any issues at all for at least 5 years.

As mentioned above I doubt it will be an issue as it isn't usually a drain on the medical system.

Good luck!:nice1

Absolutely not an issue. I have imflamatory bowel disease which is far more serious (as a pp said - ibd is what symtpoms are put down to when all else has been discounted) and all I needed was a letter from my consultant. Don't give it a second thought!

Believe it or not, major of populations do have IBS that caused by diet, stress or allergies...so I didn't mentioned my history of IBS to DR because it was turn out caused by stress when I worked long hours at hospital :uhoh
