I have a job offer which is only a few hours a week as a tutor but I will ultimately be buying the franchise of the private tuition business from the lady who will be employing me. Does the job offer for the PR visa have to be full-time? The franchise bit crosses over to the business visa category and I can't see the point of putting in another application when there's already one in.

It's an excellent opportunity which I looked into over here but couldn't follow up at the time.

I'd bet an extremely large amount of money that this would not be accepted as a Job Offer for PR purposes and yes, it would need to be full-time. It is a possible go-er for a business visa but that is quite a different animal which you will need to fully investigate. From memory I recall something about employing NZ'ers over a period of a few years and to me it seemed more fraught with difficulties than getting PR, doing your 3 months and then being free to do what you want.

Good luck,
Dawn

Lockstock, can I be nosey? Will you you be tutoring Maths? My sister tutors for a New Zealand based company here in the UK, just wondered if it was the same one ('Number works')

Have you recovered from your trip? Is it difficult to settle back into your 'normal life'?

All the best, Carol

May I ask, why you are considering this job offer for your PR as you have already submitted your ITA? Is it just to try to speed it up?

As you don't actually need a job for a PR, not sure if there is an actual rule on this, but if there was I would expect it to be full time which would by NZIS definition be at least 30 hours per week on average.

If the job is only for a few hours per week, would think that if you mentioned it, you may actually slow down your application? But do you need to mention the hours? If your employer wants you there sooner rather than later then you could at least mention it to the case worker as they will do their best to try to help you.

Ian, yes, it is to speed things up. We submitted ITA in August and the letter we got back said it would be up to 4 months before we got a case officer and then anothe month or two after that before we had a decision. OH's going spare because that takes us to the other side of the England tour of NZ and he risks losing any Barmy Army status he may have had to look forward to.

Carol - it's not Number Works but similar. Established World Wide and I've a freind who runs two voer here. The kids and parents love it too.
