Hi,
My sister is looking into moving out to NZ. Her big issue is that she is very unsure of job options. She currently teaches music full time in a school in the US, she is a credentialed teacher. She is looking for some sort of full time music teaching option in NZ.
Anyone have any ideas about what her prospects might be like or where she should be looking?
Thanks!
Chris

Can't answer your question but we're hoping to find fabulous skilled and fun teacher (violin, cello and/or piano) when we arrive! We're leaving one behind and am hoping to find someone who can fill her shoes!
Does she teach at the university level or children/youth?
Child/youth strings teachers in my community are earning $50-60/hour USD when teaching in their private studios - if she can't find work in the schools and is up for teaching private and small group lessons she may do well, esp in the larger cities with a large enough population base.

Like Migratory Bird I have been looking into music lessons for when we get over. There may be other places that have similar set ups.

Thanks for the input, she has done private lessons before and has moved out of it. She is looking for a more predictable (times of day) sort of work. There is a lot of late in the day and weekend work with private lessons and that gets in the way of her playing, she is a violinist and concerts/gigs tend to be at the same time. She likes the playing quite a bit!
