Have you tried going to one of the NZ Expos at Earls Court or Manchester? Next ones are October I think. They will have loads of companies recruiting and employment agencies. They will also have contacts for some of the regional development bodies, who sometimes have links with smaller companies who need staff too. If nothing else, you can get alot of useful info, and talk to immigration staff.
Or try this link to another recent thread.

I contacted lots of agencies and employers direct and ignored the must be eligible messages. Didnt get much response though until i said i was flying out for a visit then was offered lots of interviews. but have you tried www.seek.co.nz ?:nice1

Just thought I'd let you know of our experience. My OH applied for a post last Oct whilst we were in the UK (and we didn't know when we would be in NZ)through an internet recruitment site and never heard anything back and we forgot about it. Arrived in NZ in Jan and started looking for work through an NZ recruitment company, discovered the very same vacancy was still available and contacted the employer. The employer said they had never received my OH's original application through the internet recruitment site. My OH then got the job (so he was obviously what they were after in the first place). So our experience of the internet recruitment sites was not so good / reliable!! Don't rely on it soley.
However, we did have good follow ups from the Expo held in London - go along to one if you can, take your CV and chat to anyone and everyone - we had quite a good fexperience there , it was worth the trip.
Good luck with everything and I hope you get an offer.

You don't need to make life any more complicated than Google. Try this:
http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q=engineering+machinist&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryNZ
Fifth hit is this:

Posted today, so get your skates on. My commission's 10%. :p
All the best.

Hi,
I relied on Seek a lot and ignored the "must be eligible" notes. If nothing else you will get yourself known by the agencies. I then targeted the agents directly and made friends with particular agents. Going out to NZ just for a week, while tiring and expensive, seemed to be well worth while as it demonstrated to the agencies that I was serious about going there. While I still don't have a job, I have had several late night interviews and a couple of very near misses. Making friends with teh agents and going there, even if only to buy them a coffee and show your face, definitely helped. To have an agent "big you up" when you can't be there, is as good as you can hope for.
I did also go to the Expos (twice) but found them a waste of time and money as far as job hunting was concerned.
Even if you do get as far as looking like you you get a jog offer, bear in mind that things don't necessarily move at the same speed as in the UK. Mind you ....would we be going if it did????:)
Still - good luck to you and everyone else looking for work from the UK. (wish me luck too please)
