Hello everyone,

Just like to say hi and thank you for all your extremely helpful and informative posts that I've been reading the last few weeks! Finally got round to actually registering so I'll now be able to add a few well deserved rep points.

I'm living north of Manchester and am in the middle of an IT degree and a seperate IT certificate (keeping busy!) and hoping to, one day, emigrate over to NZ.

Like many others I've had enough of the UK (for various reasons) and have felt for a while that the time is right to leave. Also my current role offers a great deal of insight into the long-term effects of current and previous central/local government policy and all I'll say is that I'm not hopeful about the future round here!

It's early days for me yet though, although I have been looking into emigrating for ages. Not even got an EOI in yet! I'll be off to the Expo in Manchester next month, I'm treating it as more a scouting mission than anything else right now.

Anyway, thank you for reading my first post and I'll see you round the boards. Good luck to you all

Paul

Welcome Paul :) It's great on here - but very addictive!

I'm also north of Manchester and there are quite a few other Northerners lurking - you'll have to watch out for our next meet up -you'd be most welcome - our numbers on previous get togethers are down - people keep disappearing on planes to the other side of the world!

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum !

Congratulations on your very first post ! Considering its' addictive nature, as Vixxann already mentioned, it's bound to be one of many :laugh !

Thanx for sharing some of your background, nice to know a bit about you.

This is a great place for finding answers to questions and support when you need it, don't hesitate to ask !

Best of luck with your process and enjoy the Expo, I'm sure it'll prove to be very useful. It might also be just the thing that gives you the push to move forward with emigrating to NZ :D, or are you thinking of waiting until you have concluded your studies ?

Ooo, don't get me started! You'll have to drag me off my soapbox!

people keep disappearing on planes to the other side of the world!

How rude! You'd think they'd show their faces now and again. Oh, hang on...:o

are you thinking of waiting until you have concluded your studies ?

That's the plan! Don't want to stop part of the way through. Besides I'm determined to get them finished and under my belt

Good move ! A(nother) degree or certificate is bound to prove worthwhile down the line.

Good luck with it !

Howdo to you too Paul, and welcome to our world my good friend. Many a Northerner is around here and i'm sure they will do their best to assist you in your enquiries, as much as the rest of the folks.

Hi Paul;
Be warned the expo will have you hooked, we went to one last November, feeling a little uncertain, and I nearly booked flights on the spot!
Best wishes, Corinne
