Has anyone taken their dishwasher with them? If so, how did you clean it and more importantly, get it dry, to go in the container? Or is this just a really silly idea of mine, to take my beloved Bosch with me???? I am planning on taking my washing machiner and tumble drier too but am ditching the fridge freezer 'cos it's on it's last legs - any thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Helga

Check out the prices on the advertising flyers for Bond and Bond, one of NZ's largest electrical goods retailers. There are white goods on some of them.

You need Adobe PDF reader to view them. Use the readers magnifying tool to see the product details.

I will definately be taking my dishwasher, it's abit old and tatty now, alot of the original paintwork has been eroded away showing alot of the grey underneath. Sometimes I have to play with its drawers to get it working but then it goes as good as they day I got it. It has an extremely fast cycle too so there's no hanging around for ages.

It's a triple action model - it washes, dries and puts away !!!! ;)

Yep - I wouldn't go anywhere without it :nice1 :nice1 :nice1

Is this still the dishwasher thread or are you describing PB?

Ha ha - pleased you redressed the balance there Diny!! I always find there's a fault in the washing and putting away programmes though - never gets things clean enough and keep finding them in the wrong place :laugh

Beach Kiwi you are a voice of reason - thanks for that!!

I can't recall doing anything different, except just disconnected it all. Maybe the removals guys did something additional, but I suspect not.

We brought our dishwasher with us, but every house we looked at to buy already had one built it. As most houses are sold with the dishwashers, waste disposal units, cookers, curtains/blinds and carpets etc. included it may prove a waste of time to bring your dishwasher. Ours is sitting idle in our garage at this very moment!

Yep, 99.9% of houses we have viewed ALL came with dishwashers - it seems the done thing here to sell with this appliance - and cookers - although fridges are not included.

Glad we aren't bringing ours over!

And if I were you I wouldn't bother bringing yours!

So I take it the advice is, if your dishwasher is electric, don't bother.

What about washing machines and tumble driers?

Moorf

Yep, bring washing machine and dryer if in good working order etc... you might also want to check that the brand you have has servicing over here.

Do you normally take one's dishwasher with you when you move? I've heard of moving refrigerators and dryers etc., but never a dishwasher. Just wondering, don't mean to be dull.

Hi Catjlin

Well - yes, I would - we went out and bought it as freestanding so we would take it with us. Mind you, having read all the posts perhaps we don't need to both as obviously most houses have them in NZ. We will be renting for the first 6 months to a year though and I wonder if most rental houses have them in or not? Perhaps someone can tell me...

Many rental places DO have dishwashers.. yes .. but not as high a percentage as property for sale.

And if they don't have dishwashers its normally because there is nowhere to put them!
