IŽd like to say "Hi to all!" Great to find such a useful resource with such a courteous and decent bunch of people! :nice1
My partner and I will be applying for PR based on partnership once we return to the UK from some travels together. A little bit of background about us both:
IŽm a 34 year old British citizen, who left the UK in 2002 to travel and educate myself. I have a degree in IT and since then was working as a diving instructor in Australia, where I met Jo on a trip to NZ in 2005.
Jo is a 25 year old kiwi from Wanganui, although she worked in Auckland for 6 years before I convinced her to sell everything she owned and come and live with me in Australia, where she worked as a travel agent.
We lived in Cairns together for over a year before we embarked on a year long trip taking in Indonesia and the entire length of South America. I proposed to Jo in Cusco, Peru on 28 August at 5am under the light of the red moon during the lunar eclipse.
I return to the UK for the first time in 5 years with Jo on 19th October for a couple of months, when we intend to apply for PR at the London NZIS and a British passport for Jo as her mother is a UK citizen. We are visiting my family in Spain over Christmas when the future in-laws will meet for the first time and we can discuss wedding plans. WeŽll most likely stay in Spain until PR is (hopefully) granted.
We have already compiled our book of partnership evidence before we left Australia and my police reports are currently being processed so theyŽll be ready just before we arrive.
Our current thinking is to return to NZ around November 2008 and rent for 6 months, possible in New Plymouth, Hastings or Nelson. I have already sold my house in the UK and all my possession are in storage in Spain. We are currently just thinking about transferring some GBP - NZD to take advantage of the weak NZD.
On top of all of that weŽre planning a wedding in Fiji in June 2009 and building our own dream house with a white picket fence!
IŽm sure weŽll have lots of questions during this whole process, but IŽll be happy to share our experiences to help.
Best of luck to all
Jon & Jo
