The best picnic you have ever been too will be held at :

Pines Beach Reserve Saturday 13th Nov 2004
11 am - 4 ish

It is in Christchurch but if you can come up or down for the weekend we would love to see you there.

I have booked the park for anyone to join us - family, friends, workmates....the more the merrier, bring your neighbours, your kids mates anyone you want. :nice1

We will have a 'feed', followed by swimming (there is a free toddler pool if it is hot,) cricket/soccer match, basketball, BMX track (bring the kids bikes) a skate board ramp thing, (bring skate boards) and a great play park.

It is a 5 min walk to the beach so we will have a sweetie/candy/lollie scramble there or slide down the huge dunes..great fun if you have teenagers. :cool

At 2 pm I have booked carrots and pickles a Canadian clown act who are really funny :laugh ....well I think so...who will also bring a big parachute for everyone to play with...cant decribe it! and then they will do a show..so bring a chair.

WHAT TO BRING:

Your own lunch and drink. There will be a BBQ (we will bring one with us as none at the park) so if you would like to use it you are more than welcome.
If not bring a cut lunch for your own family.

If everyone could bring 2 packets of biscuits to share (I will put this on platters..for later...with the 'welcome to NZ" cake!! ) and a packet of lollies..sweeties..candy!
For the lollie/sweetie/candy scramble. :nice1

There is a shop opposite the park for ice creams/pies etc..so bring some $$ if you dont want your kids whinging about everyone elses ice creams!!!

I will bring this thread up every few weeks for those who are new..to see it.( I put it in 'where to live' as it doesnt get so busy with topics in this forum)

If you would like to come email me so that if for some reason the weather should be foul, I can email you and keep you updated (there is a hall there..so we could still use that and have the show there...and make a fire and cook some snags on it...in the snow!)

Bring a hat and sunscreen even if it is cloudy and swimming togs if you so desire.... because it will be the best weather ever!

shorts and t shirt are fine...and a surf board..the beach is awesome!!!

Have a safe trip those who are arriving soon...and see the rest of you there!!!

Nicky
ps a snag is a sausage, scramble is when you throw the lollies in the air and you dive for them, togs are swimmers/bathing suit and so the new language that you need to learn begins!!!

Hi, kiwi,

I'm so hoping we can be there, but at the moment it doesn't look good.. this house-selling business is for the birds!!

If not this gathering, the next -- we will be joining you as soon as we can.

Have fun, you lot!!!

All the best, Rae

Wow - didn't you do well. 150 people :eek That must have been some experience. The south island will be sinking into the sea if there are that many new immigrants arriving there.

Glad you had a lovely time and am slightly envious

Glad you all had a good time, the more I read on this site, the more I want to get out there. Had sort of decided on Christchurch, (job depending), and yet again the more I read the more I think that will be the right decision.

Must look at when to put in my EOI, can't really get out there until June / July for Interviews so not sure when to actually file the papers. Going through the Emigration Group, anybody used them.

Enjoy your summer, Winter is just starting, with the first mid evening frost last night.

Maybe we can be there for your next November get together!
