What can you use as proof of partnership?

My OH and I have been together for 9 years but dont have any shared accounts, the mortgage is in my name only and our post goes to different post office boxes.

How far back do we need to prove partnership?

We have a 7 month old daughter and both of us are on her birth certificate but I think we'd need more than that?

We have holiday snaps but they arent dated

I'm trying to remember what we used. I know marriage certs and children together aren't enough - go figure!! We had joint bank accounts etc but I think other people on here have used photos, letters from people who have known them as a couple (esp if you have friends in high places, or at least in positions of responsibility). Can't think of anything else at the moment but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

Have a look at the guides on www.immigration.govt.nz (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/formsandfees/formsandguides/residence.htm). The one relating to Guide for Applying for Residence in New Zealand is here (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/EFA678B7-EDE5-49CA-A8FE-74BD75CA30DE/0/1002.pdf).

The info that you need is in section C6, but it says:

• marriage certificate (if married)
• civil union certificate
• proof of shared residence (such as joint mortgage or tenancy agreements or rent book)
• financial dependence or interdependence (proof of shared income or bank accounts, or accounts that show money transfers between your account and your partner’s account)
• birth certificates for your children
• any evidence of public or family recognition of
your relationship
• correspondence (including post-marked envelopes) to you and your partner at the same address
• photographs of you and your partner together
• evidence of the duration of your relationship
• the degree of commitment to a shared life
• the performance of household duties.

I hope that this helps and good luck. :nice1

Thanks! We'll start trying to get proof together.

We had a joint rental agreement, but not a joint bank account and all bills were in my name.

We dragged through our email inboxes for old messages, postcards to both of us dating back a couple of years from her parents and other friends. We also had a letter from a doctor who said he'd know her for four years, and me as her partner for two years. That seemed to be enough for our app to be granted

I listed everything I submitted in my post here: http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11565

They checked it through and handed back all of the photos and Christmas cards!

that's a long list - we've been married for 9 years together for 15 but have seperate bank accounts, all the bills & mortgage is in my name - neither of us like to have our photo's taken so I think our last one together was on our wedding day - might have to ask to monther-in-law to send us some post to us jointly - the one thing on that list that did make me laugh was the "performance of household duties" how on earth do you demonstrate that is hubby supposed to know how to operate a hoover :)
