Hi all
Anyone had any experience of renting furniture specifically in Christchurch. Plan to buy white goods etc but will need something to sit on/sleep in until our container arrives. Any advice?

Hi peebles16

Maybe you'd like to cosider buying second hand stuff, and then either sell them again or donate them to charity.

Best of luck

We're currently renting from a company called DTR www.dtr.co.nz but we're in Auckland and I'm not sure if they are country wide. When we added up what we'd really like to hire against what we absolutely couldn't live without the costs came down a bit. Eg. we're coping with one chest of drawers and our new mattress ready for when the frame arrives is on the floor.

Then again we didn't really plan to rent for more than about 3 mths and we planned to store our stuff on its arrival until we had somewhere more permanent to put it. Guess it depends on what your long term plans are.

We also used DTR....they are pretty cheap and have most things you would need. Also, they do discounts if you pester them a bit!

Thanks folks, hopefully we can do a bit of bartering - just wanted to get a few bits so kids didn't have to spend Christmas on deckchairs!!
