I know applications with a job offer take precedence over non-job offers but are non-job applications really having to wait 4 months before being allocated a case officer? The wait is getting to me - not so much the time wasted but also because if there is anything that needs sorting out with the application, I could be using this time to address it. everything seems to be on hold - can't book container, can't book dogs transport, can't book tickets, can't organise accommodation. Everything seems to have stopped. I know lots of you have gone through this part but I'm sure there's something I could be doing. I daren't even open a bank account and transfer the money just in case the final answer is a 'no'. :(

I feel your pain, we were exactly the same. Sadly there is very little you can do. Horrible isn't it?

The only thing we did was get the house on the market - we'd decided we'd take the risk. If it sold and we got turned down we'd just move anyway.

Sorry that's really not much help is it.

So you just went to NZ and sorted out the PR afterwards? I know the container company keeps asking about visas and everything. I may have all sorts of mis-information here but can you actually sell up and go without any kind of visa?

Yes, I think you can. I understand that they can ask for a bond against the customs charges, but I haven't actually read of anyone being asked to pay. I think having the PR in process seems to be enough to satisfy them?
