Hi All - Lorraine from the UK here.

We are thinking of moving out to NZ but are pretty clueless to how we start and what needs to be done. We are hoping to visit both the South and North Island Easter of next year (2008). Although I am wanting more of the South side due to a friend being there.

Can anybody shed any light on procedures etc. I have my husband, daughter aged 20 and son of 13.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Firstly I would take a look at the NZ Immigration website, and look a the different types of visas available, and whether you have enough points to qualify for any of them.

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/

As your daughter is over 19, she may need to apply separately and qualify in her own right, if she is not dependent on you...check out the latest rules about this too.

If you get enough points, I would then do some research on employment opportunities in different areas, to see where you could realistically find work and live....then you could visit these areas at easter, and maybe arrange interviews etc while you are in the country.

Just my thoughts here, but a good place to begin!
