Well we've made repeated phone calls and sent faxes asking for employment history, job description etc. Each time promised this will be sent.
Any suggestions as our ITA has to be submitted in a few weeks time?

I worked for companies that had gone bust, so no chance to get any paperwork. Just submit what you have: wage slips, income tax statements, National Insurance statement, bank statements showing your salary going in, etc. NZIS will likely have seen every possible combination of circumstance before. Don't sweat it, don't panic, don't lie - just show what you've got. When you write your covering letter you can explain yourself, and IIRC there's some space in the form to do so too. If NZIS aren't happy, then they'll ask you for more details.

could try demanding it under freedom of information act or date protection act then they have to give it within 28 days

Concure with Chiba
Had the same issue with one of previous employers. Simply send what I had. No issue.

Thank you both for your posts. We are just panicking because it specifically asks for a detailed job description under the skilled migrant category.

Just a thought, if it's a job that you did fairly recently do you have a former colleague who could let you have a copy of the job description?
Good luck, Carol

I'd just type up a letter from yourself, explaining what you did and how many hours you worked and how long you did the job- send it to the company and ask them to send it back on letter head signed, if they fail to do so, then just send it to INZ with the explaination that the company ignored your repeated requests for the data. Your case officer can always call and confirm over the phone if they want to.

Frances. I think you'll find NZIS will be reasonable over work history and experience. All you need do is explain the issue with the particular employer with your covering letter. This is the covering letter you will send with your ITA.
Other than that you can obtain a listing of those you or himself have been employed with via the Inland Revenue
This is the address.
This list will also show start and finish dates.
Apply for a 'Data Protection Printout'
The Address is:

As far as I know this address is still current.
