We're heading over to NZ next week to check things out before we make our move. I am a printmaker and was wondering if there are any printmaking studios in either Napier, Christchurch or Nelson? I would either like to rent space or would also consider a local art school that offers printmaking classes.

Please let me know of any facilities that have a flatbed press. Thanks,

I don't know what you mean by Printmaker but there are a lot of printers in Invercargill, Craigs, Everett Studios, Quantem Print, do commercial & consumer.
I get my pictures framed/ canvas prints done at Art & Soul, they do everything from stretching, reprinting your origionals etc.

Use Yellowpages and see what comes up in the areas you want

I'd suggest visiting the main art gallery/museum in each town and talking to the people there, they should be able to point you in the right direction:

According to the tertiary art courses supplement in the spring 2007 edition of artnews New Zealand magazine, these offer printmaking:
Eastern Institute of Technology, Hawkes Bay
Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, Nelson
University of Canterbury, Christchurch

And try the Yellow Pages as Kat suggested, and (of course) Google.

Thanks for all those good pointers. For sure I will stop in at some of the schools and museums along the way and see what I can turf up. Here's a pic of the kind of press I'm talking about, typically for etching or monoprints:
