Hi all,

Myself and partner are still trying hard to get the right visa to get to N.Z. We were over in N.Z in April this year and my partner had an interview. We were hoping to get an offer of a permanent position out of this. So we then could go the work to residency or EOI route. The Good/Bad news is my partner received the e-mail last week with an offer but starting on a casual basis to let her find which area and location she wants to be in, which sort of puts a stop on the work to residency visa! We don’t know whether to be happy or sad???
So as we are still trying our best to be in N.Z just after Christmas is for me to submit my EOI with xxx points without a job offer and if nothing comes of that, after Christmas will we get working holiday visa's so my partner than start working over there and finger’s crossed get a permanent position. I just wondered if there is any problem with having an EOI in then applying and going out on a WHV as it may look a bit obvious that it's not just a holiday were going for!

Have you investigated the General visa details. I think you can start off by applying for a general work visa (max of 3 years). Your employer has to state in the offer letter how long a work visa term they want for you and the rest of the process is pretty much straight forward (police cert and medicals etc).

I would go to NZ, start the job and then file an EOI (in some cases its speedy to do the EOI/ITA process while you are in NZ).

I've looked at the work visa options. As there is no stated min hours and term of employment on the offer i dont think it will be accepted. I'm just thinking now i might aswell send off my EOI (105 points) while we are here and make to move on a working holiday visa after christmas. If the EOI has been selected.
My brother has been out in NZ for nearly a year now, we cant wait to join them!!
