Just found a new rental, rural, 2 minutes walk from one of the schools we wanted littl'un to start at and in the area we wanted to live in. Can't wait to move in 2 weeks! Feel happier already. Only been in this house a week but have hated every minute of it, it's so overlooked on all sides, I'm not used to suburban living so the new house will be great - surrounded by wineries!!! Littl'un due to start school at end of Oct so we can begin to make friends in the area we want to settle permanently. Will also make being on my own for the next 2 months a bit more bearable as living here alone while OH is in Welly is definitely not fun.

Roll on 20th Sept! Good timing too as our container is (theoretically) due at end of Sept. We will have furniture - woohoo!

That's good news. Houses here often seem to relish being overlooked, with low fences and not much in the way of trees etc. I found it very unsettling in our rental at first, and was continually ducking under the windowsill to get dressed in the morning. I lived in the middle of nowhere before moving, but I think in general houses here are more open and people seem happier with this. It's not for me - if I could live on my own on an island I would ...... well maybe just 1 small cafe allowed with good coffee and nice snacks .....

Good luck in your new house.

Know this feeling so well. We were in our first rental for 6 weeks but hated it. Much happier in our current rental. Fingers crossed your container arrives on time.

Now don't be drinking all that wine. :cheers

Sorry - but I'm a firm believer you should shop as locally as possible and support the rural economy!

Great news, sounds much better. We did the same, moved into first rental and slowly disliked it more and more until we moved out after five weeks. We only moved a few hundred yards doen the road, but are much happier there.

I think when you first arrive you just want to get out of motel living asap and make decisions on houses a little too quickly. We certainly did, alhough it wasn't hatred straight away, it sneaked up on us.
