Not that I've ever heard of or read on the board. Have you already had the clue stickers issued? You can delay that by up to 6 months from approval, then you have 1 year to activate them (which only requires a trip into NZ) and then another 2 years on the RRV before you have to start the entire process again if you want to emigrate.

Hello thanks for reply. We have our blue stickers and the PR date goes up until 3 May 2008 however due to pregnancies dates going by then may be difficult. I'm still unsure from your post - what is a RRV? Could we go to NZ for a month to activate our visas and then return at a not too later date?

We don't really want to start the process again....now that we have them - we're definately going but I was hoping for a bit more time!

RRV is returning residents visa.

Yes, you can come to NZ to activate the PR, it doesn't have to be as long as a month, but that would be a good length of time if you are planning to have a look around.

Once you have activated the PR then you can leave for a while and then return later. The sooner the better, but believe that it can be for up to 2 years - I believe that it does get more complicated though if you leave it for this long.

You only have to visit for an hour - just get through NZ immigration and have your Residents Permit stamp put in your passport before your PR expires on 3 May 08. As IanW99 says though, it may be best to go for a longer period to have a look around.

Again, as IanW99 said, the RRV is the Returning Residents Visa - you should have a second blue sticker in your passport which activates from the day your Residents Permit (the one I talked about in the first paragraph, not the PR blue sticker) is put in your passport and lasts 2 years. So yes, you can then return at "not too later date" - up to 2 years later in fact.

Si, if you arrive on 1 May 08, your Residents Permit is stamped, and your RRV will last until 1 May 10.
