Hi there!
I am new to this forum and was thrilled to find such a wealth of info on the subject that is consuming my thoughts! I am just beginning this process and have a few questions. I am a teacher in California (6 years) and my husband is working on his bachelor's degree to eventually go into a teacher training program for primary grades (Hopefully in NZ)

1. Is it difficult for my California teaching credential to be approved by NZQA?

2. Would I be better off pursuing the "Skilled Migrant" category or the "Work to Residence" category? If I do the survey on myself, I come out with 125 points (but maybe I'm being too generous to myself?)

3. Any recommendations for university programs for teacher training?

4. Does the NZQA really require the actual university diploma or are the transcripts OK if they show that I finished the program and earned my degree?

That's all for now - Thanks and again, I am very excited that there is such a valuable souce of info!

Mary

We sent off the actual diploma, NZQA will recognise your qualification if the can, they do not discount anything, you just may not get the level yo were hoping for.

You do not say what level you teach, secondary school teachers are on the long term shortage list, so with a recognisable qualification I would recommend the skilled migrant route. for primary I would recommend getting a job and then the skilled migrant.

Thanks, speckythecky -

I am a secondary teacher - so it sounds like I should go the skilled migrant route. I will get all of my documents together and then probably have more questions.
