For the primary schools in Whitby, here's the official info:-

Discovery School (http://www.ero.govt.nz/ero/reppub.nsf/0/4C5DE5310B835664CC256FFE001A3C82/$File/2832.htm?Open)

Adventure School (http://www.ero.govt.nz/ero/reppub.nsf/0/2D95E98FB145FD67CC256F86000DBAB2/$File/1195.htm?Open)

Postgate School (http://www.ero.govt.nz/ero/reppub.nsf/0/AFC7B66E4426F547CC256E9D00820A74/$File/2966.htm?Open)

I can't help personally on primary schools as our kids were too old for primary but will ask for you.

Really like Whitby as an area, house prices are high there and there is a higher than average white population (lot of expats) for the region. Definitely a preferred location if you can afford it, there are several other suburbs around the same area that are also good.

I am busy doing a house up there at the moment.... right bang between both Adventure and Discovery schools.
Should be ready to sell soon.....

:)

All the schools are very different. Another one close by - but is zoned for only part of Whitby is Pauatahanui School.
I was a teacher there for 10 years.
(Am currently having a year off after I resigned last year).

Had a chance to ask about the three primary schools and this is what I was told:-

All three are similar (from a choice perspective), not really anything to separate them, in the end they let there children decide and they chose Adventure.

If they had to compare them then they would say first Adventure, then
Discovery and finally Postgate.

They still have one child at Adventure and don't have any problems.

The suggested that when you arrive, arrange an interview at each of them so you can check them out for yourself.
