hi guys

i know someone somewhere has already asked this question, so if any of you can find the thread, then just redirect me, please? i've been reading up on emigrating to nz, and me & the bf are going for an assessment interview this weekend.

what i want to know is how much points did you guys claim on your eoi's and did you apply with or without job offer? doing the assessment ourselves adds up the points to 110 or so, and i was just wondering if that means that we don't really have a chance of being selected from the pool since i'm sure the higher marks qualify first?

thanks - i've been snooping around all the threads and it looks like there's a lot of immigration guru's around... any help would be much appreciated!:yes

By no means forum guru but basically anything over 140 points guarantees initial selection from the pool then anything between 100 and 140 points can be selected depending on numbers applying, what areas you have claimed points for etc. If you got to this link on NZIS it should provide you more detail (I think first time I have posted link?!) - http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/

We applied with job offer to basically claim as many points as possible and as we are still waiting for ITA not sure how successful that it??

Welcome to the forum and I'm sure folks will have loads to add

I was about to post the same question. so i will be interested in what other pepole have to say.
What are the chances of getting pulled out? I would only have 105 points without a job offer??
The route we are going to take if we dont get selected by new year is to go out on working holiday visa's. As my partner has work to go. (casual only which i beleive is'nt good enough to apply for a work permit)

To Tony:
From looking at the most recent selections I'd say if you have 10 points of experience or a degree on the skill shortage list you will probably be picked fairly soon. For the last couple of selections they seem to have grabbed everyone meeting those requirements out of the pool.

All EOIs claiming 10 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage and with a points total between 100 and 135 points 27
All EOIs claiming 10 points for a qualification in an area of absolute skill shortage and with a points total between 100 and 135 points

Hope that helps :)

thanks for the response guys! another related question - my bf is going to do the EOI, since he's got a masters degree and job experience in a rare skills area, and i don't even have my bcom yet (hoping for next mid next year)
my question is: i see that if i as partner have a job offer, it would add a lot of points. do i have to meet the same qualifications as a work to residence permit? i'm not sure anybody's going to offer me 45000 a year for what i do :o do i have to apply for a work permit even though i'm only the partner in the EOI?
