I had to chuckle when a headteacher e-mailed me to confirm he had received my job application this morning and that he'd be in touch soon - he signed off 'Go All Blacks - best wishes...'

Informal or what? I may not get the job but it brightened up my day a bit.

Did you ask for confirmation of receiving job application or did Head do it off own back? Best of luck for the job; wonder where it is?

I didn't ask for confirmation of receipt but I did put watching rugby and cricket as part of my outside interests (just left the bit about 'on TV because there's no other choice' bit off) I've even volunteered my OH as a qualified cricket coach for extra-curricular involvement! I'm targetting the Waikato because that's where we want to go. The February batch of vacancies is starting to come through now which is very encouraging because it gives me hope of getting a job for the PR even though, technically, I don't need one.

I have to say that the replies to e-mail asking for details and application forms have been almost instantaneous. Very encouraging. Can we have some fingers crossed out there please!

I once got offered a job because I happened to support the same Super 14 team as the two people who interviewed me. This sort of thing isnt as uncommon as you might think. NZ really is rugby obsessed.

Scary thing is that when I watch the All Blacks play, I get a surge of pride, and I don't even live there - yet!

I know what you mean about the sense of pride and the All Blacks - I'm tempted to e-mail him back and rib him about the prowess of the England Team (and Wales I suppose). But I don't think I can put up a very convincing argument at the moment especially seeing how England struggled against the US who, bless them, are hardly shaking in my boots oppostions. I suspect the All Blacks will go...and go...and go. All the way to the final.

Anyone see Zimbabwe beat Australia in 20/20 cricket yesterday? Tee Hee:laugh

Hi there, reading this just hit a chord with us. Mic had a skype conversation on sunday with the Head of a school he has applied to. They seem really nice and informal too. Whilst arranging the skype we were told not to interfere with the opening game!
Born and Bred in the UK I have always been an all blacks supporter even before I had considered moving there!

Yes and they put up a very repectable performance which really rattled England.

My husband has just had a T-Shirt printed which says "I support the All Blacks and any team that beats England!" - it's going down really well with his mates at work (we're still in the UK) - I hope customs recognise him from his passport photo - I think he's going to get a serious makeover soon ....:roll
